What we collect, how we use it, what we don't do with it.

aware is a biometric-friend-connection product. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do with it.

What we collect

Biometric data from connected wearables. When you connect an Oura Ring (or other supported wearable) to aware, we access your daily biometric metrics: heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep stages and duration, activity, readiness, resilience. We access this data via the wearable provider's API using OAuth, or via a CSV export you provide. We store recent data only; historical data beyond the analysis window is not retained.

Group chat messages. aware participates in SMS group chats you create. Messages sent in those groups are retained for up to 30 days to allow aware to correlate what members say with what their biometric data shows. Messages older than 30 days are deleted automatically. You may request immediate deletion of all retained messages at any time by contacting hello@awarechats.com.

Account information. Your name, email address, phone number, and the identifiers of the wearable accounts you connect.

Technical data. Standard website analytics (page views, referrers, approximate location from IP) via Vercel Analytics. We do not use third-party ad tracking or marketing pixels.

What we don't do

aware relies on a small number of third-party services to operate. Data is shared with these providers only as necessary to deliver the service:

SMS message frequency

aware sends a small, predictable volume of SMS messages to enrolled members. Typical cadence is one weekly Update plus occasional Noticings when something in your group's biometric data is worth surfacing. Most weeks: one to four messages per member. We do not send promotional messages or broadcasts unrelated to your group.

Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge for SMS messages and data based on your plan. aware does not charge a per-message fee.

Mobile information and SMS consent

We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your mobile phone number to third parties for marketing or any other purpose unrelated to operating aware. Your number is shared only with Twilio (our SMS delivery provider) as required to deliver messages to you, and is otherwise held privately in our systems.

Mobile opt-in consent data — including your phone number, the record that you opted in to receive aware SMS messages, and the timestamp and details of that consent — is not shared with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. This information is held privately in our systems and is shared only with Twilio as required to deliver SMS messages to you.

Opt-out and re-opt-in

You may opt out of all aware SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. We respond with a confirmation that you have been unsubscribed; no further messages are sent to your number. The opt-out is effective immediately.

To re-enroll after opting out, reply START (or UNSTOP) to the same number. Your enrollment is restored and messages resume on the next regular cadence.
